Whenever someone asks about Exam questions, it’s clear that they either want a helping hand in preparing the the PM cerification exam or they’re looking for a cram session. I recently took the PMP cert exam and passed the first time. Was it hard? You bet!
The thing is that most of the exam prep was a waste of time. You can learn a lot about project management through formal training but the exam itself seemed like a different animal. With the exception of the ethics questions, most were quite different.
If anyone is interested, I can offer suggestions and insight into the exam without compromising my own ethical standards. While I cannot and will not simply give you the question, I can direct anyone who asks to ideas that helped me succeed with the exam.
This post needs 10 comments before I continue with this line information. Until then, I will once again post to the other areas on this site.
Until next time…
It never ceases to amaze me the continued focus on theory instead practical application. Why in the world do we have regulating and certification bodies that are built on the theory of a body of knowledge? Certainly, I’m not suggesting that a body of knowledge isn’t important, rather, there is little focus on the practical application in real world situations.
This is especially true of Sigma and project management. Everything revolves around the premise that you have support and everyone is one the same team. For the vast majority of situations however, this is wishful thinking and not reality
If ever there was a good example of what’s WRONG with project management, the PNP certification program is it. The whole premise is based on the IDEA that you, as a project manager have the support and are given the resources to do the job right.
Now I ask you, how often does THAT happen? Anxwer: not enough times to base a certification program on that seems to have value in the marketplace. Now I’m not saying that the PNP has no value, only that companies LIKE the certification and the cert. itself is based on a ideal world scenario.
So what value can be measured in companies that demand a pnp certification but don’t deliver on the support necessary to do the job right? hmmm
